How do you register a certification in the RNCP?

The certifier files an application with France compétences, which decides after a binding opinion from its professional certification committee. The file includes the activity, skills and assessment frameworks, organized in skill blocks, and an analysis of the cohorts of holders: jobs held and access to employment. Registration lasts five years at most.

What France compétences examines for the RNCP

Each criterion must be demonstrated in the file, with evidence.

  1. The match between the target occupation and the jobs holders actually hold
  2. The impact on access or return to employment, compared with similar certifications
  3. The reality of the technical, teaching and supervisory resources of the training followed
  4. The match between that training and the frameworks
  5. The quality of the frameworks: green and digital transitions, health and safety, disability and accessibility
  6. Control procedures for training and assessments, including at authorized providers
  7. The legal and regulatory constraints of the occupation
  8. Access through the validation of prior experience (VAE)
  9. The coherence of the skill blocks and their assessments
  10. Where relevant, equivalences with other certifications and involvement of industry bodies

The steps of an application

No regulation sets a review time frame: the schedule depends on the committee’s sessions and on the state of your frameworks and data. You receive a costed proposal within 48 hours of a first conversation.

Frequently asked questions

RNCP and RS: what we are asked most

Short answers, based on the rules in force since the decree of 6 June 2025.

The RNCP registers certifications attesting the skills of an occupation, ranked by level and split into skill blocks. The specific register records certifications and authorizations attesting complementary skills. Both are eligible for the CPF.

Yes, as a rule: France compétences analyses the cohorts of holders trained by the certifier. If the data cover only one year, registration is limited to three years. Occupations recognized as evolving or emerging follow a simplified procedure, with a three-year registration.

Five years at most, in the RNCP as in the specific register. A renewal application must then be filed, examined on the holders of the registered certification.

A consistent set of skills that allows a professional activity to be carried out independently, and that can be assessed and validated separately. Every RNCP certification is made of blocks.

In case of false statements, notably on cohort data, copying of an existing framework, or misleading communication about the training offered by the applicant or its authorized providers.

After three refusals within five years, the certifier must wait one year after the last refusal before applying for a similar certification.

By obtaining an authorization from the certifier: through an agreement with a certifying body, or a decision from a ministry. It requires complying with the frameworks and having suitable teaching, technical and supervisory resources.
